Boardwise Company Info
Boardwise began life as Mach, a business set up by Brian and Carolyn Stark and their father Tom, in 1978. Originally manufacturing hang glider frames and sails, the family started importing windsurf boards from France and opened their first shop in Edinburgh in 1983.
We sold our first snowboard, a Burton Elite, way back in 1987, and the name changed to Boardwise in 1996 to show our dedication to all board sports (windsurfing, snowboarding, skateboarding and surfing). The company has since grown to include four shops in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Cannock and London, but we still pride ourselves on being a ‘board only’ store, which means we don’t do skis, rollerblades, scooters or any of that crap!
